Can you suggest a seaside resort with no fair, and not too far from leicester to travel to for the day please?

We are looking to take the children out for the day on monday, but we need somewhere that isn’t going to cost hence a beach somewhere.

Sutton on Sea is a Lovely little town with beautiful beaches. It really is a forgotten place which adds to its charm. No amusement arcades. The journey will be no more than 70 miles from Leicester and take just over an hour if no hold ups with bank holiday traffic.

Sleaford is an interesting town to stop for a break and then go onto Tattersall Castle. A huge red brick castle that you can climb to the top and peer down through where they used to pour boiling oil on unwelcome guests. The grand children will love it because we did as kids. The best bit was seeing my mother clamped to the wall because she didn’t like heights. She dreamt about it for weeks!

Alford, just inland of Sutton on Sea is a delightful town and worth a look.
